NCOS Relief Fund for Hurricane Helene
Purpose:
The NCOS has received $51,000 in unsolicited donations thanks to the generosity of VSP and the Optometry Association of Louisiana. These funds will be used as grants for the purpose of providing financial assistance to NCOS members who were victims of Hurricane Helene.
Eligible Beneficiaries:
Any NCOS member in good standing who was a victim of Hurricane Helene may apply for an NCOS Relief Fund grant.
Criteria for Determining Eligibility of Grants:
- The applicant must show that he or she suffered property damage (to their home or practice) and/or incurred business expenses not already covered by insurance (not including loss of income) attributable to Hurricane Helene and as determined by the committee. Any application for a grant that does not meet this criteria will be denied.
- Applications must be submitted online by March 3, 2025.
Evaluation of Applications and Procedures for Processing:
- Individuals must submit an online application.
- The NCOS Relief Fund Committee will review all applications after the March 3, 2025 deadline.
- Eligibility and grant amounts will be determined on a case-by-case basis after evaluating each applicant’s loss and his/her need along with the total number of applications received.
- The NCOS will follow up with each applicant via email once all grant money has been awarded by the committee.
Terms of Grant:
Grants for Hurricane Helene assistance shall be offered only once per applicant.
