All courses will count as SYNCHRONOUS VIRTUAL, COPE-accredited CE credit, per NC Board’s 2024 CE policy for the purpose of your NC transcripts. Hours will also count as SYNCHRONOUS VIRTUAL (formerly called "online interactive") in the OE Tracker database per ARBO’s new course formats instituted in 2023, descriptions of which can be found here. These courses will be presented live and will be interactive, so they must be viewed in real-time (no recordings will be offered for credit).

8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Neuro: Optic Nerve and Orbit Brainteaser Cases, COPE 88532-NO, Christopher Borgman, OD, (2 hours)
This course will highlight 10 neuro-optometry cases that the author has managed to increase his knowledge in the neuro-optometry realm of eye care. This course will review the pathology and management of these cases.

10:15 AM - 11:15 AM: Ocular Emergencies, COPE 87377-TD, Jessilin Quint, OD, FAAO (1 hour)
This one hour lecture will discuss common ocular emergencies that a primary eye care practitioner may encounter in a practice setting. Case examples will emphasize clinically relevant information for the diagnosis and treatment of various sight-threatening and life-threatening conditions.

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Dry Eye Disguise: Identifying and Managing Dry Eye Masqueraders, COPE 89239-TD, Jessilin Quint, OD, FAAO (1 hour)
This lecture will discuss common anterior segment conditions that often present with similar symptoms and clinical signs that occur with dry eye disease. Case examples will emphasize clinically relevant information for the modern-day practitioner to appropriately diagnose and offer effective treatment options.

1:15 PM - 2:15 PM: Dry Eye Innovations, COPE 89238-TD, Jessilin Quint, OD, FAAO (1 hour)
Dry eye is a multifactorial disease with numerous diagnostic and treatment options available. This lecture will discuss modern diagnostic and treatment strategies for ocular surface disease. Case examples will emphasize clinically relevant information for the modern-day practitioner to appropriately address all multifactorial etiologies of dry eye disease and offer effective treatment options. Treatment options covered will include pharmacologic agents, amniotic membranes, intense pulsed light, radiofrequency, photobiomodulation, and meibomian gland expression technologies.

2:30 PM - 4:30 PM: Exploring Glaucoma Through a Broader Lens: An Update on Diagnostic Technology, Devices and Treatment Options, COPE 89271-GL, Brittany Wright, OD (2 hours)
Advancements in diagnostic and treatment technologies and the heightened focus on patient centered care offer us a broad approach to addressing patient needs and improving outcomes for those living with glaucoma. Updates are presented here.

Christopher Borgman, OD
Memphis, TN

Dr. Chris Borgman is an associate professor at the Southern College of Optometry. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology at Central College in Pella, Iowa and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. Following graduation, Dr. Borgman completed a one-year residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the Illinois College of Optometry/Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

Prior to joining the faculty at SCO, Dr. Borgman spent three years in a multi-doctor, private ophthalmology practice in Des Moines, Iowa which specialized in primary care, ocular disease, cataract surgery, and laser refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Tennessee Association of Optometry Physicians (TAOP), and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He has authored numerous articles published on the topics of various ocular disease conditions, and has also lectured in many continuing education venues, both nationally and internationally, on the topics of primary care ocular diseases, ocular pharmacology, ocular manifestations of systemic diseases, and neuro-optometric diseases.

Dr. Borgman currently sees patients and supervises students in a clinical setting at The Eye Center at SCO, and also teaches two classroom courses: Systemic Pathology, and Integrative Analysis. His areas of professional interest include: primary care ocular disease, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, and neuro-optometric diseases.

Dr. Borgman enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, and is a slow-pitch softball and baseball enthusiast.


Jessilin Quint, OD, MBA, MS, FAAO
Augusta, ME

Dr. Jessilin Quint is a Texas native and graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology. She completed Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science (MS) in Biology degrees at West Texas A&M University. Dr. Quint received a Doctorate of Optometry degree (OD) from Indiana University. After graduation, she completed a post-doctoral Residency in Ocular Disease with an emphasis on ocular emergency and trauma at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Illinois. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Quint practices in Maine where she co-owns Smart Eye Care. She is the founder of the Smart Dry Eye Center of Excellence. She enjoys providing comprehensive family eye care to her patients with a distinct interest in specialty contact lenses and dry eye disease. She is an active volunteer, speaker, and author in many industry publications. Her extensive knowledge regarding Dry Eye Disease has also led her to consult for many international pharmaceutical and beauty companies. 


Brittany Wright, OD
Boulder, CO

Dr. Brittany Wright, originally from the Chicagoland area, attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science and Master of Science degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology. Dr. Wright completed her Doctorate of Optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, graduating with honors. She then went on to complete a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.

Dr. Wright has practiced in a variety of settings including primary care, a tertiary surgical center, provided mobile care services at nursing homes and rehabilitation, and most recently, academia at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. At the college of optometry, Dr. Wright served as a clinical preceptor, course coordinator, and the inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. During this time, she has developed a special interest in addressing eye health disparities while enhancing patient access and health literacy. Dr. Wright started the year in an exciting new role, joining the outstanding faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, department of ophthalmology, as assistant professor!

Dr. Wright is an active member of the American Optometric Association, National Optometric Association and a recent fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Spending time with her son and husband are daily highlights …as they are all big sports fans and love spending time outdoors and checking out new restaurants!

Course Login Instructions: Your registration fee covers your attendance at all courses offered. One week prior to the event, you will receive download instructions for the Zoom platform, as well as the separate links for each course offered. You must log in at the beginning of each course and log out at the conclusion of each course in order to track your attendance and issue credit for whichever courses you attend. 

*The NCOS will file CE for NC-licensed optometrists to the NC State Board of Examiners in Optometry, as well as for South Carolina-licensed optometrists and Florida-licensed optometrists to CE Broker. Anyone not licensed in NC, South Carolina or Florida will be responsible for reporting their credit to their applicable state board.
